An established multidisciplinary buildings consultancy is seeking an Associate Fire Engineering Director to lead and grow its Fire Engineering capability across the UK. This is a senior, strategic, and client-facing role suited to a technically exceptional fire engineer who combines technical authority, commercial leadership, and people development.
You will play a key role in shaping the Fire Engineering division, leading complex projects, influencing market growth, and developing high-performing teams.
Strategic Leadership & Technical Authority- Lead and oversee complex, multi-disciplinary fire engineering projects across a range of sectors including healthcare, life sciences, commercial, residential, and major regeneration.
- Act as technical sign-off authority for fire engineering deliverables.
- Provide expert advice on performance-based fire engineering, CFD fire and smoke modelling, evacuation strategies, and fire safety compliance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and best practice (ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, NFPA, EN standards).
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in fire engineering practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior clients, developers, architects, contractors, regulators, and local authorities.
- Lead business development activity including bids, proposals, and client presentations.
- Represent the business at industry forums, technical panels, and regulatory consultations.
- Support strategic growth of Fire Engineering services across UK markets.
- Identify new market opportunities, emerging sectors, and service expansions.
