What You’ll Be Doing

As the project’s Social Value champion, you’ll shape and deliver initiatives that ensure social, economic, and environmental benefits are embedded at every stage. You will:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social value strategy aligned with client objectives and government frameworks
  • Track, monitor, and report on key metrics—local employment, skills development, community engagement, and more
  • Work with procurement teams to ensure social value requirements are built into supply chain contracts
  • Cultivate strong partnerships with stakeholders, community groups, charities, and educational institutions
  • Produce clear social value performance reports for senior leadership and external partners
  • Drive compliance with the UK Social Value Act and all project KPIs
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, sustainability, and responsible business practices throughout the project

About You

You’ll succeed in this role if you bring:

  • A degree in Social Value, Sustainability, Community Development, or a related field
  • Experience delivering social value on major civil engineering or infrastructure programmes
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Social Value Act and government reporting frameworks
  • A proven track record in stakeholder engagement and building community partnerships
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and project management skills

Great to have:

  • Experience in nuclear or high-hazard environments
  • Familiarity with social value measurement tools (e.g., TOMs Framework)
  • Membership of IEMA or similar professional body

Working Environment

This role is primarily office-based with occasional site visits. A full safety induction will be provided.
