An established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Bristol office. This role supports a growing portfolio of technically challenging projects across the defence and research sectors, alongside high-quality commercial fit-out work. You will take a senior position within the mechanical team, delivering building services designs, supporting project delivery, and contributing to the ongoing development of the Bristol office.

Current & Upcoming Workload

  • Defence projects requiring security clearance, involving complex and secure environments
  • Two high-spec fit-out projects focused on research and design facilities
  • A strong forward pipeline of multidisciplinary building projects

This provides a balanced mix of secure, technically demanding work and longer-term project stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical building services design from concept through to delivery
  • Produce and review calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Act as a technical lead, coordinating with internal teams and external consultants
  • Support and mentor junior engineers
  • Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant UK standards and regulations

About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in mechanical building services design
  • Experience in defence, secure, or research environments is advantageous
  • UK national with eligibility for security clearance (essential)
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
