An established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Bristol office. This role supports a growing portfolio of technically challenging projects across the defence and research sectors, alongside high-quality commercial fit-out work. You will take a senior position within the mechanical team, delivering building services designs, supporting project delivery, and contributing to the ongoing development of the Bristol office.
Current & Upcoming Workload
- Defence projects requiring security clearance, involving complex and secure environments
- Two high-spec fit-out projects focused on research and design facilities
- A strong forward pipeline of multidisciplinary building projects
This provides a balanced mix of secure, technically demanding work and longer-term project stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical building services design from concept through to delivery
- Produce and review calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications
- Act as a technical lead, coordinating with internal teams and external consultants
- Support and mentor junior engineers
- Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
- Ensure designs comply with relevant UK standards and regulations
About You
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Chartered or working towards Chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent)
- Proven experience in mechanical building services design
- Experience in defence, secure, or research environments is advantageous
- UK national with eligibility for security clearance (essential)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
