Introduction to Energex Partners

Energex is a specialist, practitioner led commercial advisory practice, providing commercial expertise, advice and insights across the energy sector, from oil, gas and LNG through to low-carbon fuels, methanol, ammonia and renewables. We work with high calibre companies that seek strategic and commercial advice, and support leading investors as they deploy capital into the energy sector.

Energex was founded in 2016 based on decades of strategic and operational experience from operating on the frontline of markets within international energy companies, investment banks, trading, industrial and utility companies. We are a small and growing advisory business and so are looking for dynamic people to support our growth. Our portfolio of work has shifted increasingly to low-carbon sectors and decarbonisation advice and support and the role will offer the opportunity to both learn from senior practitioners in existing energy systems and to play a part in the emerging renewables landscape.

Core objective of the role

The successful individual will be an integral part of small project teams that are formed to deliver the variety of client engagements across all our business, for both our corporate clients and investor clients. The core objective of the role is to support the project team to be more efficient and productive in compiling our client/project proposals and reports, based on the content provided by the senior team members and the individual through their own research and endeavours. The intention is for the role to develop over time to take responsibility for leading the coordination and input for the client engagements as “Team Captain”, including greater client-facing responsibilities.

Role summary – key responsibilities and expected knowledge

  • Lead the production of high-quality client reports and presentation materials with input from the other project team members.
  • Coordinate with team members to deliver client assignments on time and according to engagement scopes.
  • Coordinate input from across the wider team to develop and refine our template library to improve efficiency, productivity and design.
  • Review and proof read client presentations to ensure the consistency and accuracy of the content.
  • Coordinate the continued development of our credentials and marketing materials, including developing “case studies” for past projects for inclusion in client pitches.
  • Source relevant content and materials for assignments through market research and analysis.
  • Participate in client meetings and calls with the project team during the engagement period to ensure deliverables and timelines are met.
  • Demonstrate, or develop, project management skills to be able to “captain” project teams to plan and coordinate team input and ensure efficient project delivery within the required timelines.
  • Help to develop new models such as supply, demand, logistical, financial and pricing models.
  • Provide modelling and data-analysis support, using Excel, to support certain projects as needed.
  • Support other tasks such as preparing of proposals.
  • Attend client calls and liaise with clients on information requests.
  • Work with expert energy and carbon sector senior advisors to distil their knowledge into supporting assignment theses.
  • Help with developing and improving the use of AI tools within Energex.

Requirements & Skills

The successful candidate should have a 2.1 degree from a Russell Group university (or equivalent) with work experience that demonstrates proactivity and teamwork. They will have a strong interest in the energy sector and current affairs.

Skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications:

  • Track record of producing consistently high-quality PowerPoint materials.
  • High standard of communication in a written and graphic format, able to convey messages in crisp, succinct and impactful ways.
  • Excellent at multi-tasking and prioritising, with the ability to persevere under high volumes of work.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and formatting.
  • Very high standard of IT literacy (MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word) including Excel modelling skills.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and processes.
  • Prepared to accept responsibility and take accountability for own actions and behaviours.
  • Ability to improve the presentation and messaging of team members report materials and insights.
  • Able to proofread reports, presentations and documents for syntax and also to align messaging with assignment goals.
  • Build trust and credibility through honouring commitments.
  • Bring energy and enthusiasm to working, with a positive and friendly attitude.
