The Business Analyst role will provide domain expertise and analysis skills and experience for our product development and product consulting services for our clients. They will capture requirements for changes to the Company’s software products and produce functional specifications detailing how the changes should be implemented and tested. The role is predominately home based with client site and Portsmouth office attendance as required by the Directors.
Key Responsibilities:
- To build and maintain expertise in the UK electricity generation and trading industry in order to support the business of the company.
- To capture and elucidate requirements and produce specifications defining system change requirements.
- To follow market and technical changes, in particular where these impact the company’s products, in order to specify and guide required Market changes.
- To provide business analysis tools, techniques and expertise, guidance and mentoring to Client and internal staff as required within the scope of engagements agreed.
- To produce test cases and conduct product system tests and validation of software.
- To gain an understanding of client business processes in order to support their use of the company’s products.
- To produce training materials and deliver training and guidance to our clients.
- Champion the use of appropriate tooling solutions to ensure the full traceability of needs from initial identification through build, test and deployment.
- To support the development, operations and customer support teams with domain expertise.
- To contribute to sales activities including proposals, product demonstrations and industry event attendance.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- A degree or equivalent qualification or relevant job experience (4 years) in business or mathematical/engineering skills.
- Background in the energy sector or related area is beneficial although training and guidance will be provided.
- Familiarity with the software development process, agile methodologies and development tools including Azure DevOps or equivalent.
- Strong Microsoft Office (principally Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and general IT usage.
- Experience of SQL and relational databases is highly advantageous.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills including the ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time to deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism with ability to provide timely and courteous customer communications.
- Ability to present information efficiently and reliably.
