This role is best suited to someone with a proven background in community engagement, public outreach, health promotion, or a related field, and who can hit the ground running in a public‑facing environment.

- Proven communication skills – a track record of speaking confidently to diverse audiences, explaining complex information clearly and compassionately.
- Empathy and experience – a genuine understanding of how to support individuals who may be experiencing pain, frustration, or uncertainty, ideally backed by relevant experience.
- Confidence and professionalism – comfortable leading conversations and representing an organisation in public settings without close supervision.
- Highly organised and dependable – experience managing event logistics, materials, and schedules independently and to a high standard.
- Collaborative and experienced team member – able to work alongside volunteers and trustees of varying experience levels, sharing knowledge and supporting others.
- Strong public engagement skills – experience representing organisations or causes at events and handling a wide range of public questions.
- Commitment to confidentiality – a solid understanding of handling sensitive information with discretion, ideally from a previous role or volunteering context.
Desirable Experience
- Prior experience volunteering at events or with a charity, particularly in a public‑facing or leadership capacity.
- Knowledge of endometriosis, women’s health, or community health – either professionally or through lived experience.
- A background in outreach, health promotion, customer service, or community engagement roles.
- Experience collecting feedback, recording contacts, or contributing to reporting and evaluation.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Community Outreach and Awareness Volunteer, you’ll play a leading part in helping us connect with the public, share vital information, and promote our support services. Drawing on your existing skills in public engagement or outreach, you’ll be a confident and knowledgeable face of our charity at events – leading conversations with visitors, managing information stalls, and ensuring every interaction reflects our values. You’ll be part of a small, supportive, and inclusive team of volunteers and trustees who are passionate about making a real difference. We’ll provide training and all the materials you need, but we’re counting on you to bring your own experience and initiative to the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent Endometriosis South Coast at community events, awareness stalls, and health or wellbeing fairs, drawing on your experience in public‑facing or outreach roles.
- Independently set up and pack down event materials such as banners, leaflets, and merchandise.
- Lead engaging, accurate, and inclusive conversations with members of the public about endometriosis and our work.
- Confidently signpost individuals to our website, support groups, and resources for further help.
- Use your experience to handle a wide range of questions, collect feedback, and manage contact details where appropriate.
- Bring leadership and experience to collaborative work with other volunteers and trustees, helping to make events welcoming, inclusive, and informative.
- Apply your knowledge of community outreach to promote our mission of awareness, advocacy, and support.
