JOB LOCATION: Stevenage

SECURITY CLEARANCE LEVEL: SC needed to start - UKEO

DURATION: 12+ Months (possible extension)

WORK PATTERN: Minimum 4 days a week on site (1 day remote)

PAY RATE: £60 - £75 Per Hour Umbrella Inside IR35

Overview:

We are looking for someone to join our fabulous team of engineers who are driving some very innovative RF module designs that have complex test and characterisation requirements. This is an opportunity to work on something new to Client and interesting leading edge technology. We have an existing idea to start from, with code already developed on previous generation hardware that can be utilised in some way; either as just requirements or to take pieces of it to create something new.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with systems and RF design engineers to understand functional and performance requirements before translating them into a suitable test approach
  • Develop MATLAB code or other preferred options, to automatically characterise & verify Equipment Under Test
  • Development of bespoke test tools, including hardware rigs and automated test frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain verification procedures, test cases, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with systems, software, hardware, and firmware teams.
  • Conduct proving activities in a laboratory environment to characterise & verify equipment performance and functions.
  • Analyse and interpret test data, investigating anomalies and working with design teams to identify root causes.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and technically robust evidence to support equipment design verification.
  • Support design reviews and stakeholder engagements with test findings and technical insight.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of proving processes, tools, and methods.
  • Contribute to the design of equipment through reviews and interactions with the teams and stakeholders.

Skillset/Experience Required:

  • MATLAB / Simulink test harness code writing or programming with good structured techniques
  • Equipment module bench rig construction with test equipment and computer driven test scenarios using MATLAB or other programming languages
  • Interpretation of equipment requirements
  • Synthetic data and signal injection
  • Proficient in MS Office, writing procedures, diagrams, plans and documenting code & test set ups.

Experience Advantageous & Developed in the Role:

  • Use of Radio Frequency (RF) based lab test-equipment
  • Understanding and interpretation of Functional Interface Descriptions
  • Integration activities: Testing with multiple equipment modules
  • Environmental chamber testing (including electromagnetic compatibility, thermal)
  • Ability to read system schematics, electrical diagrams & equipment circuit diagrams
  • Developing tests that exercise as much of the Hardware, Software and Firmware as possible
  • Familiarity with tools such as SAP, PLM/Windchill, DOORS NG/ETM, Rhapsody, Jira
  • Awareness of Model-Based System Engineering, the processes and methods, including requirements, modelling, and simulation, and how they relate to integration and verification methods
