Cloud Operations Engineer required to join a worldwide reputable institution for a long-term contract opportunity. The main role of the Cloud Operations Engineer is to work with the IPOSS team members to build, maintain, and enhance the infrastructure underlying the applications and databases hosted in AWS for those developed by IPOBSD for the use by stakeholders. The consultant works under the supervision of the head of the IPOSS and will be required to work in close coordination with the software development team, solutions architect, project managers, and other team members.
As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will:
- Engineer the AWS cloud environment for Operational Efficiency, Reliability, Performance, and Cost Optimization.
- Provide operational support to deployment and development teams, along with business users, for the integration, staging, and deployment of cloud applications.
- Define backup and business continuity parameters and strategies; engineer solutions to facilitate deployment of IPOBSD applications.
- Configure tools and solutions for logging, monitoring, and reporting on infrastructure and application resources.
- Define incident response strategies and implement tools for monitoring metrics, automating response, and notifications.
- Assist in the implementation of tools for automation of configuration management, service catalogues, and other processes.
- Assist in the automation of account provisioning and de-provisioning processes.
- Communicate processes and best practices through tutorials and documentation.
Required skills/experience:
- In-depth knowledge of major AWS services such as RDS, ECS, CloudFormation, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud best practices such as the AWS Well Architected Framework.
- Knowledge of SQL-based databases (Oracle, MSSQL, Postgres, etc.)
- Experience in the deployment of complex IT solutions for business service delivery (including scalable cloud-based solutions and microservices architectures).
- Experience maintaining applications with automated integration and deployment on major cloud platforms, especially AWS.
- Significant experience with operational management, metrics-based processes, and automation of IT processes.
- Experience with IT level II support and advanced troubleshooting.
