PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE
The primary purpose and responsibilities of the Group Reporting Specialist include:
• Ownership of Group consolidation and preparation of the quarterly and year-end financial statements in accordance with regulatory requirements (listed on TSX/LSE);
• Support preparation of other external reporting and regulatory filings (MD&A); and provide technical accounting support to Group Finance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure quarterly and year-end financial statements are accurate, of a high standard, and adhere to the relevant accounting standards.
• Assistance in the preparation and delivery of the quarterly and annual reporting packages.
• Ensure monthly financial statements are prepared accurately and on time.
• Maintain key group reconciliations as part of consolidation process.
• Maintain key controls attached to the role under UK SOX program and drive further improvements.
• Manage external audit requests and maintain key audit relationships during quarterly reviews and year end audit process.
• Be a trusted partner in the transition to Oracle EPM for monthly, quarterly and yearly consolidation.
• Continuously improve group consolidation files in WDesk and ensure files are maintained and archived.
• Collaboration with regional controllers, site finance managers, corporate and exploration accountants and FP&A team where necessary to ensure accurate information gets accurately consolidated into the group results.
• Collaboration with the tax and treasury teams to ensure information in group consolidation aligns to tax and treasury files and provide support on annual CBCR and Pillar II financial information.
• Support around corporate development activities including mergers & acquisitions, refinancing and other corporate finance activities.
• Draft accounting memos for non-recurring significant/material accounting adjustments for review.
• Monitor new standards, interpretations and amendments, and assess potential impact to the Group.
• Providing ad-hoc training on accounting and reporting related developments across the Group.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with relevant post qualification experience preferably with a Big-4 firm.
Relevant experience:
• Significant experience in either financial controlling or external audit, with a good knowledge of IFRS and mature financial controls for the Extractive Industry.
• A strong technical accounting background paired with analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn and develop in a fast-paced growing business.
• High sense of urgency and ability to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadline.
• A natural problem-solver who can take ownership of their work and deliverables.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• A strong working knowledge of SUN, Oracle and WDesk will be an advantage.
• Open to potential travel to Africa.
