We are currently looking for a highly motivated Accounts Assistant to join our dynamic Accounts Hub. If you have excellent communication skills, a strong team player mentality, and a keen eye for detail, then we want to hear from you. Previous motor trade experience would be an advantage but not essential.

What you’ll do:

  • Report into the Regional Accountant and predominantly deal with:
    • Checking and loading payments onto the online banking system
    • Reviewing payment requests for completeness
    • Communicating with the different locations to resolve queries
    • Loading payments onto the online banking system for approval
    • Processing payments on the in-house DMS system ensuring allocations are accurate
    • Monitoring bank receipts to verify cleared funds to the operational team
    • Requests for confirmation of cleared funds will be received from all sites, verified using the online banking system and confirmation returned to the sites
  • Other Duties:
    • Managing petty cash
    • Credit control / chasing up payments
    • Reconciling and posting of PDQ daily
    • Processing daily bank payments & receipts
    • Supplier statement reconciliations
    • Processing of Purchase Ledger invoices
    • Allocation of the company credit card transactions
    • Work with both the finance and operational teams to maintain a robust control environment in line with Group and Brand policies and procedures
    • Ad hoc tasks as required
  • Assist with:
    • General administration tasks
    • Assisting the ledger teams where needed
    • Assisting Accountant and Assistant Accountant with ad hoc tasks

Who you are:

As a person, you are highly organised with excellent attention to detail. An analytical thinker, you are good with numbers and solving problems. You have good interpersonal skills and can develop effective working relationships at all levels of the business. You are full of energy, self-motivated and make things happen – never settling for just the status quo. You should have excellent communication skills at all levels combined with an eye for detail.

Your experience:

Previous experience and a good working knowledge of all accounting routines would be desirable. Knowledge of the CDK/Kerridge Dealer Management system would be beneficial but is not essential. Ideally, you will be enthusiastic, well organised, diligent, and able to work to strict deadlines whilst paying attention to detail and working both as an individual and as part of a team. You will have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to deal with internal and external customers, along with good all-round organisational skills.
