Overview
The Senior Management Accountant will play a key part in managing the month-end close process, managing a team to deliver accurate information in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will be commercially minded and analytical, with the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts across areas of responsibility with accountability for monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Work alongside Finance Business Partners to deliver insightful variance analysis and commentary against budget, forecast, and prior year.
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting is distributed to relevant budget holders.
- Support the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with department heads and FP&A team.
- Support the FP&A team by providing financial insight for commercial decisions.
- Ensure accuracy of data provided.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting tools, and systems.
- Support ERP and BI system enhancements and ensure data integrity across platforms.
- Automate processes and streamline workflows to improve efficiency.
- Ensure strong internal controls.
- Work alongside Group Reporting Manager to ensure accounting standards are followed appropriately.
- Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required.
- Assist with tax and statutory reporting where applicable.
- Lead and mentor direct reports. Set clear objectives and regularly discuss performance.
Who we’re looking for

- Ability to implement new controls/processes where appropriate across a fast-paced business.
- Commercially focused with strong analytical thinking.

Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) - 3 years plus PQE.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in management accounting, ideally within retail, fashion, or FMCG.
- Solid understanding of relevant accounting standards (Group reports under FRS 102) and multi-currency consolidations.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong understanding of multi-channel business models and inventory accounting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
