Construction on our Walsall site is progressing well and the site will join our existing sites in Rookery (Bedford), Newhurst (Loughborough) and Protos (Cheshire). Together these plants will provide us with a strong operational presence in the Midlands to the North-West of England and will offer opportunities to deliver operational synergies across the fleet.
We are now looking to recruit a team member to a new position of Fuel Supply Manager. This new position will lead the day to day fuel supply for contracts for part of our ERF portfolio; meeting the needs of the business and realising the maximum potential from fuel supply. As a focal point for suppliers, you will develop and implement engagement strategies and initiatives to expand and mature relationships, recognising the ever evolving needs of our customers and the market.
Reporting to the Fuel Supply Director, the role of Fuel Supply Manager covers our two owned and operated facilities in Cheshire (Protos) and West Midlands (Walsall). This position is principally concerned with managing the key aspects of fuel supply contract management and relationships. Our facilities support the aims of the circular economy and enable the UK to achieve national self-sufficiency in managing waste and support the achievement of the UK’s landfill diversion targets. Working closely with our operations teams, the successful candidate will play a key part in the ongoing success of the facility. The candidate will need to be able to travel frequently to the plants and supplier sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Management and co-ordination of day to day obligations and responsibilities under the Fuel Supply Agreements.
- Undertake the procurement, negotiation and management of fuel supply contracts.
- Management of delivery scheduling in-line with operational demand, downtime and market dynamics.
- Responsibility of fuel quality; Fuel sampling, supplier site inspections and audits.
- Contract management of all aspects of fuel supply agreements.
- Preparation of Environment Agency declarations with both internal and external customers.
- Support and prepare tender documentation.
- Monthly, quarterly and annual financial reviews, forecasts and reconciliation.
- Work closely with other departments within Encyclis (e.g. Commercial, O&M, H&S, legal, finance etc) and outside regulatory bodies as required to ensure contract compliance.
- Working with operational colleagues on waste acceptance, non-conforming waste, waste quality and data management.
- Support the Commercial Director and Plant Managers to complete other duties to ensure efficient and effective management of the EfW asset.
- Project work in relation to fuel quality improvement, assessment alternative waste markets and the compliance and operational requirements to realise opportunities.
Key Success Factors
Essential
- Minimum 5 years experience in a contract management role within the waste sector, including local authorities, logistics co-ordination, ERF supply or procurement.
- Strong business acumen that highlights proactive thinking with detail-oriented and creative problem-solving approach.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Understanding of the UK waste market and policies.
- The ability to initiate soft influence and indirect leadership.
- Education Degree level or equivalent.
- Full UK drivers licence.
Desirable
- Experience managing complex legal contracts.
- Experience working in an EfW fuel supply chain structure.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
