Encourage Mental Health provides mental health training and support for churches and Christian organisations. We are looking for a skilled volunteer to help strengthen our marketing approach and improve how we engage with churches, Christian leaders, and wider audiences online.
Encourage Mental Health is a small but growing organisation that supports churches and Christian organisations to respond more confidently and compassionately to mental health challenges within their communities. There is increasing demand for churches to better understand mental health and support people well, but many faith communities still feel unsure how to begin these conversations or communicate about them effectively.
This volunteer role will help strengthen how Encourage Mental Health communicates its message, resources, and training opportunities to the people who need them most. By helping to develop clearer marketing strategies, social media ideas, and email communication plans, the volunteer will directly contribute to increasing awareness, engagement, and reach. Their support will help the organisation build more sustainable communication systems, enabling more churches and Christian leaders to access training, reduce stigma around mental health, and create safer, more supportive faith communities. The volunteer’s contribution will help increase the long-term impact and visibility of work that aims to improve understanding, compassion, and practical support around mental health within church settings.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in marketing, communications, social media, or email marketing.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Interest in helping a growing organisation strengthen its communication and visibility.
- Confidence suggesting ideas and improvements.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Particularly helpful but not essential:
- Understanding of church culture or Christian organisations.
- Experience with Canva, MailerLite, LinkedIn, or Facebook.
- Experience supporting small charities, churches, or social enterprises.
- Interest in mental health awareness and community wellbeing.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking a volunteer with marketing and communications experience to support the development of our social media and email marketing strategy. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys strategic thinking, content planning, and helping organisations communicate their message more effectively. The volunteer will not be expected to manage social media accounts on a daily basis, but instead will help develop ideas, systems, plans, and approaches that make ongoing marketing more manageable and sustainable. The volunteer will work closely with the founder to help identify engaging content themes, improve communication consistency, and strengthen audience engagement across digital platforms.
- Help develop a simple and sustainable social media strategy.
- Support planning and writing content for platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook.
- Suggest relevant topics, themes, and ideas for posts and campaigns.
- Help identify content that would engage churches and Christian organisations.
- Support the development of an email newsletter strategy.
- Help create communication plans and content calendars.
- Advise on audience engagement and digital communication approaches.
- Help improve consistency of branding and messaging.
- Support the development of templates and processes that can continue to be used long-term.
- Contribute ideas for increasing awareness of Encourage Mental Health and its training services.
