The Role
As a Junior Client Accountant, you'll take ownership of the client accounting for a varied portfolio of managed estates, spanning residential, commercial, and phased developments. You'll be a key part of the wider team, working closely with Estate Management and Business Development colleagues, liaising with external accountants, and handling client correspondence where needed. This is a role for someone who values accuracy, consistency, and clear communication, and who enjoys being trusted with end-to-end responsibility for their portfolio.
What You'll Do
- You'll ensure company policies and procedures are applied consistently, delivering accurate work to deadline across all areas of client accounting.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and maintaining accurate annual service charge budgets, including correct apportionments
- Managing the periodic billing of service charges, ground rent, and other charges to leaseholders
- Producing year-end service charge accounts within agreed timeframes and submitting them to external accountants for review
- Completing monthly bank reconciliations for client estates
- Producing quarterly management reports for Estate Managers and clients, including analysis of budget variances, arrears, and cash flow, supported by clear summary commentary
- Monitoring the overall health and accuracy of service charge accounts, providing relevant insight to Estate Managers
- Managing utilities and insurance recharges to leaseholders
- Overseeing the CHP billing process to ensure fees are raised accurately and on time
- Raising void service charges to developers and managing completion cheques from new lessees
- Reconciling opening balances for estates transferred from other managing agents
- Supporting corporation tax administration
- Reporting monthly client accounting KPIs to the Finance Team
- Reconciling fees between the Finance Team and Qube
- Responding promptly and professionally to leaseholder and client enquiries
- Resolving service charge queries directly or escalating where appropriate
- Following up actions arising from AGM minutes and directors' meetings
- Supporting the Client Accounting and Finance teams with day-to-day and ad-hoc tasks as required
What You'll Bring

- Experience in service charge client accounting is beneficial but not essential
- A solid understanding of accruals and prepayments is essential
- Experience using Qube is desirable but not required
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines
- High level of numeracy and confidence working with financial data
- Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel and general Microsoft Office proficiency, with experience of mail merge
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams
