The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
A diverse role in the UK, acting as a senior technician within the lighting team. The person will be responsible for a variety of shows and roles—from specifying, designing and operating as and where necessary across the business. The applicant will either have an existing specialty within the lighting field or a drive to learn one that we can assist with in training. This role will report directly to the group head of lighting in the UK.
Equipment Operation
- Be proficient/fluent in operation of at least 1 console family out of Avolites, ETC Eos or MA.
- Capable of basic fixture maintenance/repairs.
- Some experience in using CAD design software such as Vectorworks, Capture, Wysiwyg or Autocad.
- Experience in leading teams on events/production sites.
Customer Service
The ideal candidate will either be able to demonstrate or have experience in dealing with a variety of production stakeholders, including designers, producers or production managers. Understands and fosters the hotel/venue/client relationship.
Training/Staff Development
The ideal candidate will have undergone at least 1 industry related training course. They will also be able to support and assist when required in developing the skills and training offering across the business.
Event Supervision
Performs advanced work (pre/during/post event) with operations team members. Supervises and directs other technicians during an event.
Job Qualifications
4+ years of field experience in the specialty area is required.
Competencies
- Safe and compliant fixture rigging.
- Sufficient knowledge of DMX and simple network systems.
- Appropriate knowledge of production power.
- Experience working at height.
- Ability to read and understand industry standard lighting plans/plots.
- Basic understanding of rigging and rigging best practices.
Physical Requirements
Work for this role can be both office based and working onsite, often for extended periods of time. Physical requirements vary per onsite role but basic manual handling and working at height will often be required. Due consideration and reasonable measures can be taken.
Work Environment
Work is performed in an events environment with at times moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. The working conditions will vary between moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members will use high-end audio visual equipment and electrical components, and will be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Team members may be asked to work in multiple hotel locations. Working times will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Team members must adhere to appearance guidelines as defined by Encore.
