Encon Staffing are recruiting a Pipefitter / Welder on behalf of our client, an established engineering business specialising in industrial boiler, combustion and plant room services. This is a field-based position working on customer sites across the UK, carrying out pipefitting and welding associated with the installation, modification and maintenance of steam boilers, ancillary plant and mechanical services.

The Role

  • Installation, modification and maintenance of industrial pipework systems.
  • Welding and fabrication of pipework to required specifications.
  • Reading and working from engineering drawings.
  • Planning pipework routes and system layouts.
  • Inspection and testing of completed pipework.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues on site.
  • Working safely and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Liaising professionally with customers, engineers and project management.
  • Developing your skills across both pipefitting and welding, with training provided where required.

The role involves UK-wide travel, with some overnight stays, overtime and occasional weekend working.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in either pipefitting or welding, ideally gained within industrial boiler houses, combustion, mechanical engineering or similar environments. You should be confident working from engineering drawings, working independently on customer sites and carrying out your core trade to a high standard. You do not need to be fully qualified in both disciplines. A solid background in either pipefitting or welding is required, and the company will provide training and support to develop your skills in the other area. A full UK driving licence is essential. Experience or qualifications in Plumbing, Pipework Erection/Fabrication, TIG, MIG or MMA welding would be advantageous, along with relevant commercial/industrial gas qualifications.
