About the Role: As Finishing Foreman / Labourer, you will be responsible for hands-on finishing on a social housing project, ensuring all internal and external finishes are completed to specification. You will create quality finishes, safety, and productivity on site, taking ownership of snagging and handover standards. Your decisions will directly impact programme completion, client satisfaction, and overall project delivery. You will need your own tools (brushes/filling tools etc).
Key Responsibilities:
- Painting, patching, filling, making good of houses.
- Day-to-day finishing activities on site.
- Carry out detailed snagging, ensuring all items are recorded, prioritised, and closed out.
- Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain progress towards completion dates.
- Identify and address defects or practical challenges, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
- Prepare and provide clear updates on finishing progress, snagging status, and readiness for inspections and handover.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Foreman or Supervisor role within construction, focused on finishing phases.
- Strong practical knowledge of construction finishing techniques and standards for internal and external works.
- Demonstrable experience in quality control and snagging, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of on-site health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Confident communication skills for coordinating trades and dealing with site management and stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a live construction environment.
- Competent in the safe use of relevant hand and power tools for inspection and minor remedial works.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and finishing specifications.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working on residential or commercial projects in a finishing foreman capacity.
- Familiarity with digital snagging tools or software for tracking and reporting defects.
- Background in a specific finishing trade (e.g. joinery, plastering, decorating).
- Experience managing multiple finishing areas simultaneously on fast-track programmes.
Qualifications:
- NVQ or equivalent qualification in Construction or a relevant trade discipline (required).
- Valid CSCS card (required).
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification (preferred).
- Health and safety training or certifications.
