As an HGV Driver, you'll play an important role in ensuring our customers receive their products safely, efficiently and on time. You'll be responsible for delivering orders, maintaining high standards of vehicle safety and supporting the branch when required.
Key responsibilities
- Planning routes and confirming delivery instructions to ensure deliveries are completed safely and on time.
- Carrying out checks at the point of delivery to ensure orders are correct and complete.
- Completing all relevant delivery paperwork, including recording any errors, discrepancies or returns.
- Obtaining customer signatures for deliveries and branch signatures for internal transfers.
- Reporting any road or bridge restrictions, delivery issues or other problems that may affect the journey.
- Ensuring company procedures are followed to protect the vehicle, stock, cash and premises.
- Supporting the branch with picking, packing, stock checks, loading and general housekeeping when required.
- Driving safely and professionally at all times and in accordance with legal and company requirements.
- Completing daily vehicle safety checks and reporting any mechanical or safety issues promptly.
- Ensuring you are familiar with the vehicle servicing and MOT inspection schedule.
- Supervising the loading of your vehicle to ensure products are loaded safely, securely and within permitted weight limits, and in the correct delivery sequence.
- Reporting any accidents or incidents promptly in line with company procedures.
- Ensuring all required vehicle documentation, including the Operator's Licence Disc, FORS accreditation and Vulnerable Road User stickers, are correctly displayed.
- Operating a Moffett Mounty forklift to load and unload materials safely.
