A thoughtful, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant is sought to provide weekly support to a young adult currently living in Leitholm, who is planning a future move, potentially to the Duns area. This rewarding role is centred around promoting independence, building confidence in everyday life, and providing calm, respectful companionship. The successful candidate will support the client to develop practical life skills, access the local community, and prepare for living more independently in the future. The client is a preferred mute, so an understanding, patient approach and excellent communication skills are essential. Confidence in using alternative methods of communication and allowing the client time and space to communicate in their preferred way will be highly valued.
Please note: The position is expected to continue following the client’s relocation.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities- Provide support with planning and communicating with relevant agencies regarding a future house move.
- Encourage and support the development of independent living skills, including meal planning, shopping, budgeting, and maintaining a clean and organised home.
- Offer practical support and gentle prompts with household tasks and daily routines.
- Provide calm, consistent emotional support while respecting the client’s independence and preferences.
- Encourage and support access to the local community, including developing confidence using public transport.
- Build a positive, trusting, and professional working relationship while respecting the client’s preferred communication style.
- Promote confidence, wellbeing, and independence in a person-centred and respectful manner.

- Mileage/Travel: To be discussed with the employer.
- Appointment: Subject to satisfactory references and PVG / Disclosure Scotland check.
