A young lad who lives at home with his family in Coldstream is looking for a PA to provide support to enable him to engage with his local community. He has Autism and is non-verbal so it is preferred that any applicant would have experience with additional needs including Autism. The role would be perfect for someone who is patient, active, out-going and friendly and they would need to be able and willing to drive the client to various activities within his community and engage with him on his interests which include travel, books and beach walks.

Terms:

  • Hours per week: Up to 10 hours (this will increase when I leave school and may be up to 3 days a week) come May 2025
  • Hours of work: Flexible to be discussed with the employer but out with school hours (around 3.30-6/7), occasional weekend days and various times can be agreed upon within the holidays.
  • £13.10 per hour, lunch reimbursed
  • Travel costs where applicable will be reimbursed.
  • Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata.
  • Probationary period of 1 month

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To support me as a young person to ensure my safety and well-being whilst understanding my autism.
  • To support with personal care.
  • To have an enthusiasm to help me have a purpose.
  • To develop a positive relationship with my family and local community.
  • To have fun and help me grow as an independent adult.
  • To be able to work independently on a 1-1 support basis.
  • To accompany the client on short trips out of the house for appointments or social activities, including driving them to various activities in your own car.
