I am an elderly lady living at home in Walkerburn. I am looking for a relief Personal Assistant to join my team and support me when my existing team requires time off.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Morning – 1.25 hours around 8am but flexible on time: Please come in and wake me up if I am still asleep and prompt and assist me to the toilet – I can be a bit unsteady, especially first thing in the morning so please allow me time to mobilise safely. Once I have been to the toilet, please prompt and support me to shower – please ensure I am supported to thoroughly clean myself and check for any skin integrity worries, reporting back to family with any concerns. Please prompt me to brush my teeth and hair. Please then support me back through to the bedroom to get dried and dressed into appropriate clothing for the day ahead. I will then need to be supported through to the living area to sit. Please then prepare breakfast and drink of choice – please prompt and encourage intake. Please prompt and encourage me to take my medication. I’d like you to please leave me with a cold drink and ensure it is left in sight and that the TV is switched on, if required. Finally, please ensure my home is secured on leaving.
  • Lunchtime – 30 minutes, flexible on time: Please come in and support and prompt me to use the toilet. Please prepare my lunchtime meal and drink of choice and prompt and encourage intake. I’d like you to please leave me with a cold drink and ensure it is left in sight. Finally, please ensure my home is secured on leaving.
  • Teatime – 1 hour around 4:30pm but flexible on time: Please come in and support and prompt me to use the toilet. Please prepare my evening meal and drink of choice and prompt and encourage intake. Once I have finished eating, please support me with undressing and having a wash, then into my nightwear, ready for bed. Please help me into bed and ensure I have everything I need to hand for the evening and overnight. Finally, please ensure my home is secure on leaving.

Hours of work: Visits as above – 3 visits required a day. Flexibility on times.

Terms: £15.00 per hour. 5.6 weeks annual leave, calculated on a pro-rata basis. PVG required.
