A friendly nonverbal 9-year-old boy with complex disabilities, including Autism who lives with his family in Newtown St Boswells, is looking for a cheerful, bubbly and reliable personal assistant. The role involves following a planned routine as routine and consistency is essential to the individual.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To support a disabled young person to ensure their safety and well-being
  • To support with personal care needs
  • To support with general care needs like eating and drinking
  • To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings
  • To develop a positive relationship with the young person and her parents
  • To interact with the client and keep them entertained with activities they enjoy, primarily in the home, but also in the local community. The client wears reins for safety when out the home.

  • Experience with Autism and Complex Learning Difficulties – The individual has a profound learning disability and is non-verbal.
  • Experience of challenging behaviour – When unwell or very stressed by the situation the individual can display challenging behaviour.

Terms

  • Hours per week: 3
  • Hours of work: Sunday morning 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • £14.35 per hour
  • Mileage and expenses paid when out with the client
  • Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
  • Post subject to successful reference checks and PVG
  • Probationary period of 6 months
  • Mobile phone usage should be kept to emergency calls only
