I am a friendly and chatty 39-year-old woman living in Galashiels, looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to support me with my daily care needs and provide my husband with some valuable respite from his caring role. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s day-to-day life while working in a welcoming home environment.

About the Role

You will support me with my morning and evening routines using a stand aid, helping me maintain my independence, dignity, and safety at home. My husband will assist me out of bed, and support with transfers if needed. Full guidance will be provided on my individual care routine.

Working hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Mornings: 7:00am – 8:30am
  • Evenings: 9:00pm – 9:45pm

Duties include:

  • Morning support: Personal care including washing, showering, drying, dressing, and toileting
  • Catheter care
  • Transfers using a stand aid (guidance and support will be provided)
  • Assistance with medication
  • Light breakfast preparation if required
  • Evening support / bedtime routine: Assistance with toileting and personal care
  • Support with catheter care, including attaching and managing the overnight catheter bag
  • Changing into nightwear
  • Application of prescribed creams
  • Helping me get comfortable and settled for bed

About You

I am looking for someone who is:

  • Kind, patient, and dependable
  • Comfortable supporting with personal care and intimate care needs
  • A good communicator with a positive attitude
  • Able to work independently in a home setting
  • Experience in moving and handling or willingness to do a free training course
  • Previous care experience is preferred but not essential, as full guidance will be provided and the right attitude is most important
