A gentleman living at home with his wife in Eyemouth, who uses an electric wheelchair and has a right-side weakness, is looking for a cheerful and friendly support worker to join his small team. The role is to provide support to the gentleman in the morning which includes helping him with transfers, using equipment he has in the house, personal care and catheter care. His caring wife is at home to assist if required when transferring the client.

This position is mainly for work Friday-Sunday but there is also the opportunity for extra hours to cover leave or a possible increase in the future.

  • Hours per week: up to 3 hours
  • Hours of work: 8am every morning for up to 1 hour, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • Pay: £14.05 per hour
  • Paid annual leave entitlement: 5.6 weeks pro rata
  • Probationary period: 6 months

Requirements: Post subject to satisfactory references and PVG Scheme membership

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • To support the client to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • To support with transfers in and out of his wheelchair, this includes using equipment provided within his home.
  • To support personal care that includes assistance with showering, drying and dressing.
  • Support with catheter management.
  • To develop a positive relationship with the client and his family.
  • To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings.
  • To work as part of a small team along with other PA’s and family members.
