A lady in Cockburnspath is looking for someone to join her small team to offer her some extra support for a short period of time with the possibility of a more permanent position. She currently requires support up to 3 times per day to support her with her personal care and to help ensure her safety when showering due to a physical disability.

These hours will be available to start Feb/March.

  • Hours per week: up to 10.5 hours
  • Hours of work: 3 x 30 minute visits per day, ideally around 8am, 12pm and 8pm
  • Pay: £13.55 per hour
  • Paid annual leave entitlement: 5.6 weeks pro rata
  • Probationary period: 6 months
  • Post subject to: references and PVG scheme membership

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To support individual to help ensure their safety and well-being
  • To support with personal care needs such as:
    • Support with showering
    • Support to wash hair
    • Support to maintain specific foot care routine
  • To support with mobilising around her own home.
  • To support to maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings
  • To develop a positive relationship with the individual and her family.

  • Personal Attributes:
    • Kind and caring, sensitive to the client’s needs
    • Patient and cheerful
    • Reliable and trustworthy
    • Ability to use your own initiative
    • Ability to work sensitively in a home setting respecting the client and family’s right to privacy and to always maintain professional standards of confidentiality
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Knowledge of Addison’s disease would be an advantage but not essential
    • Experience is not essential for a candidate with the right personal attributes, but they should be able to show some suitability for the role.
