A young lady with a learning disability, who is gastronomy fed, living at home between Duns and Berwick-Upon-Tweed, is looking for a cheerful and friendly support worker to support her on a daily basis with transport. She is 19-years-old, non-verbal and she travels each day from her home in Hutton to her day service support at Lanark Lodge in Duns, and returns home later in the day. The role is to support her with her travel by driving her, in her own wheelchair accessible vehicle, each morning, Monday to Friday, to Lanark Lodge and returning the car to her home, then the same route later in the day to pick her up again. This would be for an hour each time, 8.30-9.30am and 3.10pm-4.10pm.

Terms:

  • Hours per week: Up to 10 (may be split across 2 people)
  • Hours of work: Mon-Fri 8.30-9.30am and 3.10-4.10pm
  • £25 per hour.
  • Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
  • Probationary period of 6 months
  • Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership

Job Description

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To support a disabled young person to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • To support with general care needs which involves supporting her to travel between her home and day service every weekday.
  • To drive the clients wheelchair accessible vehicle safely following the highway code and reporting any concerns/faults to the employer.
  • To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings.
  • To develop a positive relationship with the young person and her family.
  • To interact and engage with the client as appropriate.
  • To work a part of the team, including family, to support the young person to live a fulfilling life.
  • Willingness to learn and respond to clients communication methods
