We are looking for a caring, reliable, and friendly individual to provide companionship and community-based support to an older lady living in the St Boswells area. This rewarding role involves working alongside a Community Link Worker to help the individual build confidence, maintain social connections, and engage with activities in her local community. The successful applicant will provide emotional support, encouragement, and companionship, helping her attend local groups and enjoy meaningful social interaction.

Working Pattern:

  • 2 hours every Monday attending a tea and chat group
  • 2 hours every Friday: Every second Friday supporting attendance at a local lunch club
  • Alternate Fridays encouraging and supporting access to activities within the local community

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Community Link Worker to support access to community activities.
  • Accompany the individual to a local tea and chat group each Monday.
  • Support and encourage attendance at a lunch club every second Friday.
  • On alternate Fridays, encourage and support participation in community activities and outings.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship.
  • Encourage social engagement and help reduce feelings of isolation.
  • Support independence and confidence when accessing community opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with the Community Link Worker regarding support needs and wellbeing.

Person Specification:

  • Friendly, patient, and compassionate.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.
  • Good listener with a supportive and encouraging approach.
  • Respectful of confidentiality and personal dignity.
  • Able to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with others.
  • Driver with Business Insurance.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience supporting older people or vulnerable adults is desirable but not essential.

  • Full driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently while liaising effectively with the Community Link Worker.

Terms:

  • £13.50 per hour.
  • 45p Mileage & expenses paid when out with the client.
  • 4 hours per week.
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata.
  • 6-month probationary period.
