A lady living at home in Coldstream who has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease is looking for an outgoing and reliable support worker to offer her companionship and support a couple of times a week when her husband is unable to be there.

  • Hours of work: 2 blocks of 2.5 hours – flexible in times – to be discussed with the family.
  • £15.00 per hour.
  • Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata.

Job Description

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • To support the client to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • To support with personal care needs as required.
  • To support with general care needs such as mobilising around the ground floor of her home.
  • To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings.
  • To develop a positive relationship with the client and her family.
  • To interact with the client and keep them entertained with activities they enjoy, primarily in the home.

  • Kind and caring, sensitive to the client’s needs.
  • Patient and positive.
  • Consistent, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Ability to use your own initiative.
  • Ability to work sensitively in a home setting respecting the client and family’s right to privacy and to always maintain professional standards of confidentiality.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working with people with Parkinson’s disease would be desirable but not essential.
  • Experience is not essential for a candidate with the right personal attributes, but they should be able to show some suitability for the role.

  • Post subject to successful reference checks and PVG.
  • Probationary period of 6 months.
  • Mobile phone usage should be kept to emergency calls only.
