We're looking for a skilled General Maintenance Fitter to join our Operations team at Elton Glass. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance across the site, including reactive breakdown repairs, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), equipment installations, and continuous improvement activities to ensure maximum plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on a wide range of manufacturing equipment.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns.
- Fabricate and repair pipework, chutes, and other engineering components.
- Install and maintain heavy engineering plant using appropriate lifting equipment.
- Safely isolate electro-mechanical equipment and work in line with site health and safety procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and contribute to a safe, efficient working environment.
About You
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship, City & Guilds or BTEC qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Welding qualifications (ideally City & Guilds Level 3 in Arc, MIG and TIG welding).
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- FLT, MEWP and Confined Space certifications are desirable.
