EnBW is one of the largest energy supply companies in Germany and Europe, with a workforce of about 30,000 employees. EnBW UK Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of EnBW and part of EnBW's Trading division, which is EnBW's central point of access to the energy markets. The Trading division is responsible for the optimal management of the EnBW portfolio and energy trading. We support the energy transition through active marketing and management of renewable energies, PPAs, direct marketing and low carbon molecules supply and sales. This is an exciting time to be part of our international team, whose mission is to develop smart energy products and promote renewable energy. EnBW's trading business operates in four European countries; Germany, UK, Norway, Switzerland and most of our roles are available as hybrid-remote roles. This role is based in London.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architecture strategy for EnBW's trading function.
- This role requires a Subject Matter Expert in architecture, covering both technical and functional domains, with extensive experience in commodities trading.
- Ensure the trading architecture is robust, future-proof, and aligned with EnBW's overall business objectives.
- Develop and own the architecture strategy for the trading function, ensuring alignment with business objectives across EnBW.
- Review the current architecture, identify areas of improvement, and propose solutions to modernise the tech stack.
- Ensure the trading architecture is fit for the future, proposing enhancements and technical solutions for business challenges.
- Collaborate with system owners and business verticals to ensure all systems are fit for purpose and aligned with a roadmap for continuous improvement.
- Produce high-level technical designs and work with infrastructure, cloud, security, and network teams to align with EnBW architectural patterns.
- Review and modernise the technology stack, proposing innovative solutions and vendor products to support business growth.
- Oversee the integration of trading systems, including ETRM platforms such as Endur, and ensure seamless connectivity across front, middle, and back-office functions.
- Lead architectural reviews of ongoing projects to ensure they meet future needs.
- Stay updated on industry technologies and trends, ensuring EnBW leverages cutting-edge tools and practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Enterprise Architect within a Commodity Trading Organisation, Investment Bank, or similar environment.
- Deep knowledge of commodities trading and familiarity with related business processes across front, middle, and back offices.
- Experience working on large-scale, transformative programmes, ideally in a greenfield environment.
- Expertise in trading systems, particularly ETRM platforms such as Endur.
- Strong knowledge of cloud architecture (Azure, AWS) and messaging patterns (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Service Bus).
- Familiarity with API connectivity stacks, data warehousing, and reporting frameworks.
- Experience in agile development methodologies and modern technology stacks.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and facilitate discussions at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, focusing on delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively within large teams.
