Enably is hiring on behalf of a Belfast-based software startup looking to add a PeopleOps Business Partner to support the next stage of growth. This is a hands-on, hybrid role in a business that is scaling and wants its People function to be proactive, commercial and close to the business. It would suit someone who has already built a solid grounding in HR or PeopleOps and is ready to step into a broader role with more ownership, visibility and influence.

You will work closely with leaders and managers across the business, supporting the day-to-day people agenda while helping improve how the company hires, develops, manages and supports its team. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys variety, likes being close to the business, and wants PeopleOps to feel practical, useful and commercially relevant.

As the company grows, the people side of the business needs more structure, consistency and forward thinking. This role will help managers make better people decisions before issues become problems. You will support the day-to-day People agenda, but you will also help spot patterns, improve processes, strengthen manager capability and make sure the company is building the right foundations as it scales.

The business is looking for someone who can balance sound people knowledge with commercial judgement. Policies, compliance and process matter, of course, but this role is not just about quoting rules or reacting to problems. It is about understanding the business, supporting managers properly and helping create a working environment where people can perform, develop and stay engaged.

You will be involved across employee relations, performance, onboarding, policies, engagement, manager support and general PeopleOps. Some days will be about handling immediate issues. Others will be about improving how things work for the future. This is a role for someone who wants to be trusted, visible and involved.

This is a chance to step into a meaningful PeopleOps role in a growing Belfast software business where the people agenda is becoming increasingly important. For the right person, it offers the chance to:

  • Move beyond purely reactive HR into broader business partnering
  • Work closely with leaders and managers
  • Shape people processes as the company grows
  • Build experience across the full employee lifecycle
  • Make a visible impact in a business that values practical people support
  • Help build a People function that is commercial, human and useful

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting managers with day-to-day people questions, employee relations and performance conversations
  • Providing practical PeopleOps guidance that balances employee experience, legal requirements and business needs
  • Helping to improve core people processes across onboarding, probation, documentation, policies and employee lifecycle activity
  • Supporting managers to handle conversations with more confidence, consistency and care
  • Helping bring more structure to performance management, feedback and development conversations
  • Driving employer branding efforts organically
  • Supporting employee engagement, retention and communication across the team
  • Spotting patterns in people issues and suggesting practical improvements
  • Supporting hiring and onboarding activity where needed
  • Working on people-related projects as the company continues to grow
  • Building trusted relationships across the business

They’re keen to meet people who bring solid HR or PeopleOps experience, good judgement and a practical approach. You will likely be a strong fit if you have:

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience or more in proactive HR, PeopleOps or a similar people-focused role
  • Experience supporting managers with employee relations, performance, absence or general people matters
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach, with the confidence to spot issues early and suggest practical solutions
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law, ideally with some Northern Ireland exposure
  • The ability to balance policy, compliance and employee experience with what the business is trying to achieve
  • Confidence handling sensitive conversations with professionalism and care
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • Clear communication skills and sound judgement
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving startup, scaleup or SME environment
  • A willingness to get stuck into both operational detail and broader people projects

CIPD qualification or working towards CIPD can be useful, but it is not the only thing that matters.

Beyond experience on paper, this client cares about how someone works. They are looking for someone who sees PeopleOps as a practical business function, not just a policy or compliance function. They’ll value someone with:

  • Commercial judgement
  • Proactive thinking
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Practical problem-solving
  • High trust and confidentiality
  • Confidence without ego
  • The ability to challenge constructively
  • A calm approach to sensitive or messy people issues
  • A genuine interest in helping managers become better people leaders

The right person will be comfortable getting into the detail, but will also be able to step back and ask: what is this telling us, what needs to change, and how do we help the business get ahead of it next time?

What’s on offer:

  • Salary of £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience
  • Company Pension matched to 6%
  • 25 days holiday allowance + 10 stats
  • Private medical
  • Hybrid working from a Belfast-based office, (2-3 days per week)
  • Opportunity to join a growing software startup
  • Broad PeopleOps role with ownership and variety
  • Scope to improve people processes and make a visible impact
  • Opportunity to grow with the business as the People function develops
