The Cloud / DevOps Engineer role is responsible for the build and maintenance of complex cloud infrastructure solutions for our clients. As a central part of a cross-functional team, the Cloud / DevOps Engineer is expected to own the design and implementation of robust, secure, and scalable cloud environments from initial planning through to continuous operation. Bridging the gap between traditional infrastructure and modern software development practices, a Cloud / DevOps Engineer can both write code and understand complex distributed systems. Therefore, they must be comfortable working with Infrastructure as Code, automation tools, and have good experience of at least one mainstream programming language.
The Cloud / DevOps Engineer will usually be surrounded by a team of people in other supporting roles; however, part of being a consultant means that close collaboration and frequent communication with customers is to be expected. In addition to their teammates, the Cloud / DevOps Engineer is supported by our engineering and delivery communities which enable them to leverage the skills and experience of a wider set of practitioners.
Key Skills
- Expertise in at least one major cloud platform e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP.
- Knowledge of modern, cloud native, tech stacks.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.
- Experience with CI/CD tools e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
- Capability in at least one programming language e.g. Python, Go, JavaScript.
- Understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and distributed systems.
- Experience with container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, ECS).
- Strong problem-solving skills and systematic debugging approach.
- Comfortability with agile ways of working.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to embrace complexity and uncertainty.
- An analytical mind and good attention to detail.
