Overview

Health and Wellbeing Facilitator role at Enable. Based in Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley, Wandsworth or Richmond. Salary £26 - £32 per hour. Contract: Casual - Ongoing. Work arrangement: Various options for hours per week. DBS: Enhanced.

Reports to: Weight Management Programme Lead.

Role Overview

The post-holders will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the 12-week adult weight management programmes, which include nutrition and physical activity sessions, alongside supporting the coordinator with initial and final assessment meetings.

The post holder can work on any of the programmes below and is not limited to just one. Depending on hours of availability and interest, time can be split delivering sessions across the programmes currently being delivered and developed across the Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Wandsworth & Richmond Boroughs.

Programmes

Tier 2 Adult Weight Management for Learning Disabilities
The Adult Weight Management service aims for sustained weight loss by supporting participants and their carers to make sustainable and positive lifestyle changes. The programme runs once per week for 12 weeks, offering both a nutrition and physical activity element to help change behaviour and weight loss. The programme will run across the Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich boroughs.

Tier 2 Weight Management Programme
The weight management programme aims for sustained weight loss by making lifestyle changes. The programme runs for 12 weeks in different community centres across Wandsworth & Richmond, offering both nutrition and physical activity element to help change behaviour and weight loss.

Guys Get Active
This male-only weight management programme supports men with making healthy, sustainable lifestyle changes, along with forming friendships and improving social connection. The programme runs for 12 weeks, offering both nutrition and physical activity, along with 1:1 nutrition consultations across the course of the programme.

Responsibilities

  • Support the coordinator & programme lead in designing and delivering accessible and engaging weekly nutrition and physical activity sessions, ensuring they are tailored to the needs, abilities, and safety of participants over the 12-session programme.
  • Support participants and their carers/guardians to improve their overall health and wellbeing through positive lifestyle changes.
  • Adapt exercises and activities to suit individual abilities, ensuring safe participation and progression while considering mobility, sensory, or cognitive challenges.
  • Monitor participants’ exercise levels (intensity, type, and ability) to ensure they are engaging safely and comfortably, making necessary adjustments to meet their needs.
  • Be attentive to participants\' mental wellbeing, recognise signs of distress or disengagement, and promptly communicate any concerns to the line manager.
  • Communicate effectively with participants, carers, and support workers, using clear, accessible language to confirm session times, locations, and any necessary preparations.
  • Provide motivation and encouragement, using inclusive and supportive techniques to help participants stay engaged and feel confident in their progress.

Skills & Experience

  • Holds a Level 3 qualified personal training certification (desirable)
  • Holds a degree in nutrition, dietetics or public health (desirable)
  • Experience in a role that involves supporting individuals with a learning disability (essential)
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups (essential)
  • Safeguarding adults, first aid or mental health awareness qualification (desirable) or willingness to undertake training (essential)
  • Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; able to communicate with a range of stakeholders in a meaningful way.
  • Commitment to diversity, valuing differences and working collaboratively.
  • Commitment to own professional and personal development and willingness to undertake training as appropriate to the role.
  • Able to work flexible hours if required by the post and able to work in various settings.
  • Able to commute to various service locations across the boroughs as required.
