Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. Each person we support has different support requirements, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections. Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. Let us introduce you to Joe: We are three men looking for personal supporters to work in the West Lothian area, to provide flexible, personalised support to enable us to lead an independent life. We each have our own unique personalities. I am outgoing, know my own mind, I like to have a good laugh and banter with others. I enjoy a variety of sports, including Boccia, and I like going out for drives in the car. The other gentlemen are quiet, very active, enjoy playing computer games, socialising with others, dancing, bowling and indoor curling.
Duties will include supporting us within our own home and day to day activities that we like to participate in. We require support to maintain our tenancy agreement, ensuring the house is kept clean and tidy to a high standard, we also require assistance with gardening, cooking and money management. Personal care tasks are also required.
We enjoy many activities and are very active! These include bowling, going out for lunch, indoor curling, tea-dances, watching shows, going to the cinema, supporting friendships. We also like many indoor activities including dominos, arts and crafts, and scrapbooking. Support will also be required when we go on our individual holidays throughout the year.
You need to be patient, with good communication skills and a sense of fun. That is why Joe needs you! Will you bring your best so that Joe can live his best life?
