Role Overview
Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone who requires support to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!
Each person we support has different support requirements, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections. Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care, moving and handling, and positive behavioural support.
- Expand the person's social networks and connections.
- Provide support throughout the day, including overnight shifts.
Example of a Typical Day
Let us introduce you to Lucas. Lucas loves being outdoors, going for long walks (especially on those rare sunny days in Scotland) and just being as generally active as possible. A typical day could involve going to the shops to ensure Lucas has all the essentials he needs, or even just having a wander around his local community. In his downtime, Lucas enjoys watching movies, playing board games and socialising with friends. Lucas receives support 24 hours a day, with usual shift times between the hours of 8am and 8am.
