Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone who requires support to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!
Each person we support has different support requirements, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.
Enable creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. Jamie loves being active and keeping busy in his home and out and about in the community. A typical day could be going for a drive in the countryside, going to the local pool and jumping on the trampoline in the garden. Jamie has lots of energy, and his staff team enjoy supporting him to have as much choice as possible. Jamie requires lots of support to meet his sensory needs, and his team receive bespoke support to meet these needs and keep him safe. Sadly, it’s not always possible for Jamie to enjoy what many people would consider these ‘simple pleasures’ of life without proper, dedicated support. Jamie's staff team usually work 08:00 - 17:00, 17:00 - 22:00 and 22:00 - 08:00 overnight, sometimes with two staff on when Jamie is out in the community. Jamie likes to have a creative team who can meet his energy levels.
