A well-established civils, groundworks and RC structures contractor, operating across London and the South East, is seeking to appoint an experienced Plant Manager to support a busy and growing operation. This position is based out of Longcross, Surrey and will play a key role in supporting live projects and site teams across the region.

The Role

This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role - suited to someone who enjoys being on the ground and directly involved in day-to-day operations, rather than purely overseeing from a distance. You’ll take ownership of the business’s plant and equipment, ensuring it is:

  • Available, compliant and properly maintained
  • Correctly allocated across live civils and groundworks projects
  • Cost-effective, efficient and fit for purpose

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing in-house plant and hired equipment
  • Arranging servicing, inspections, certification and repairs
  • Liaising closely with site teams to understand real-time plant requirements
  • Controlling plant costs, utilisation and downtime
  • Supporting safe systems of work and smooth project delivery

This is very much a “doer” role, not a desk-based management position.

About You

The ideal candidate will come from a small to medium-sized civils or groundworks contractor, where being proactive and involved in the detail is essential. You are likely to have:

  • Proven experience managing plant within civils, groundworks, RC frames or enabling works
  • Strong practical knowledge of construction plant and logistics
  • A solutions-led, hands-on approach
  • Confidence working closely with site management and senior leaders

Formal qualifications are welcome, but practical experience and attitude are key.

What’s on Offer

  • Long-term role within a stable, well-regarded contractor
  • Real autonomy and ownership of the plant function
  • Salary of ÂŁ50k-ÂŁ70k, dependent on experience
  • Company vehicle included
