A leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support upcoming major projects valued up to £15m. The company delivers complex groundworks packages across multiple sectors including data centres, sports & leisure, education, energy, science, residential, and commercial.
With a strong project pipeline and an experienced leadership team, this is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded QS looking to grow into a senior management role.
The Role
You’ll work closely with a Commercial Manager and Commercial Director, taking responsibility for the financial and contractual management of key groundworks packages. The position has clear progression potential, with the Commercial Director approaching retirement and a structured path for promotion to Commercial Manager in the near future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the commercial delivery of groundworks and civil engineering projects up to £15m in value.
- Prepare and manage valuations, variations, and cost reports.
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance.
- Ensure compliance with contractual and commercial obligations.
- Produce accurate forecasts, CVRs, and financial reports for senior management.
- Liaise closely with site teams, project managers, and clients to maintain strong commercial control.
- Support value engineering and risk management activities.
About You:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundworks or civil engineering.
- Strong commercial and contractual understanding (NEC/JCT experience preferred).
- Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Professional, detail-driven, and career-focused.
- Full UK driving licence.
