A leading civil engineering contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Section Engineer to support the delivery of major highways projects across the South East. Based around the Guildford area, you will work on a variety of schemes within the National Highways network, covering works across Hampshire, Oxfordshire and surrounding regions. This role will involve both day and night shifts and offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of highways infrastructure projects, including carriageway construction, surfacing, drainage, structures, waterproofing, expansion joints, VRS, ducting and associated highway improvements.

As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for setting out, quality assurance, technical compliance and ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design specifications and project requirements. You will work closely with site management teams, subcontractors and clients, reviewing drawings, resolving technical queries and undertaking inspections to ensure works meet the required quality standards. The position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail and the ability to work independently on fast-paced infrastructure projects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years' setting out experience on civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally gained within highways environments working for a main contractor.
  • Experience using GPS equipment and total stations.
  • Confident interpreting construction drawings.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance procedures, ITPs and specification documents.
  • CSCS card is essential, along with SSSTS, First Aid, NRSWA and CAT & Genny certification.
  • A Civil Engineering degree, HNC or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organised and capable of managing their workload while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. A full UK driving licence is required, together with a willingness to travel throughout the region and work occasional night shifts.
