An established demolition, cut-and-carve and groundworks contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. The role will be based in Central London, offering a hybrid working arrangement and the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile enabling works projects across the capital.

THE ROLE

The Design Manager will be responsible for managing the design process from tender stage through to construction and handover. This includes coordinating consultants, temporary works designers, structural engineers and specialist subcontractors to ensure designs are buildable, compliant and aligned with programme and commercial requirements. You will play a key role in early-stage design development, value engineering, risk identification and mitigation, particularly on cut-and-carve and demolition-led schemes. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, commercial teams and site teams to ensure design solutions support safe and efficient delivery.

Strong knowledge of temporary works, structural alterations and early-stage enabling works is essential. Experience delivering projects in Central London or other constrained urban environments is highly desirable. You will need excellent coordination and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple design packages simultaneously, and confidence working within multidisciplinary teams. A construction-related qualification is preferred.

PACKAGE

The role offers a salary between £80,000 and £90,000 per annum, depending on experience, along with hybrid working, long-term career progression and the opportunity to work on technically challenging and prestigious projects.
