We are working with a leading engineering and automation contractor that delivers cutting-edge control systems and smart infrastructure solutions across the UK water sector.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled team involved in the design, development, testing and commissioning of automation systems for major water and wastewater projects.
You'll play a key role in delivering innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency, compliance and reliability for critical infrastructure.
The Role
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering automation and control solutions from concept through to commissioning.
Working closely with project teams and clients, you'll ensure systems are delivered to the highest standards whilst meeting technical specifications and industry requirements.
Key responsibilities include
- Producing design documentation including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), system architectures, PLC I/O schedules and hardware selections.
- Developing PLC, HMI and SCADA software in line with client standards.
- Undertaking software testing, simulation and factory acceptance testing activities.
- Supporting commissioning activities and system integration on live sites.
- Configuring and troubleshooting telemetry systems.
- Setting up and integrating networked control systems across multiple PLC platforms.
- Working directly with clients to provide technical support and ensure successful project delivery.
- Maintaining compliance with industry standards and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working within the Water and Wastewater sector is essential.
- Proven experience in industrial automation and software development.
- Strong understanding of control systems, commissioning and software testing.
- Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Electrical qualification or equivalent industry experience.
