An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist contractor delivering groundworks and reinforced concrete frame projects. The business operates as part of larger project teams on schemes valued up to £60 million, while also independently delivering projects of up to £5 million. This role will involve both supporting major schemes and taking commercial responsibility for smaller projects run directly by the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the commercial delivery of large-scale groundworks and RC frame packages, working collaboratively within wider project teams.
- Take ownership of projects valued up to £5 million, managing the full commercial lifecycle from procurement through to final account.
- Prepare valuations, cost reporting, CVRs and financial forecasts, along with subcontract procurement, tender analysis and contract administration.
- Manage variations, change control and risk, ensuring commercial compliance across all works.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, site teams and senior management, providing commercial input throughout the project lifecycle and supporting strategic decision-making.
Experience & Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years' experience working within groundworks and reinforced concrete frame environments.
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, with experience managing subcontract packages and controlling project costs.
- Confidence in working both independently and as part of a wider team, with the ability to manage projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Strong communication, reporting and organisational skills are essential.
Working Arrangements
This role requires a minimum of 2 days per week based from the company's live projects in Somerset, with the remaining time spent on site or working flexibly as required.
