A well-established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join its pre-construction team based in Rickmansworth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proven estimating professional with a strong background in Groundworks, Highways and Section 278/Section 38 works to play a key role in securing and delivering a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will bring significant industry experience, strong commercial awareness and the ability to lead complex tenders from enquiry through to successful contract award.
The Role
As Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of the estimating process, preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of groundworks, highways and infrastructure schemes.
Working closely with commercial, operational and senior management teams, you will help drive business growth while ensuring bids are commercially robust and strategically aligned.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, tender packages and pricing schedules.
- Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
- Assess project risks and identify value engineering opportunities.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop tender strategies and programmes.
- Attend site visits, client meetings and tender reviews.
- Support project handovers following successful contract awards.
- Monitor market trends, material costs and supply chain pricing.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within civil engineering, groundworks or infrastructure.
- Strong background in Groundworks, Highways and S278/S38 works.
- Demonstrable experience pricing infrastructure, roads and development projects.
- Excellent understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing.
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience producing competitive estimates for medium to large-scale projects.
