About the client: My client is a specialist MGA, backed exclusively by A-rated insurers, giving them the authority to write business while their capacity partners carry the risk. They bring together the technical rigor of a traditional insurer with the pace, personality, and precision of a modern, trading-focused MGA. The team is known for its deep market knowledge, agile approach, and above all, their unshakeable commitment to broker relationships. They operate in the Property Owners, Casualty, and Liability space—and do so with integrity, edge, and results.

The Opportunity: I am looking for a Senior Underwriter to join the London team and play a key role in the growth and success of their underwriting footprint. You will take ownership of broker relationships, deliver underwriting excellence, and help drive profitable business across Property and Casualty lines. This is the ideal role for someone with a solid track record in commercial underwriting, who thrives in a trading environment and wants to be part of a team that lives and breathes the MGA way of working.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Underwrite and grow a profitable P&C portfolio in line with binding authorities and target loss ratios
  • Own broker relationships - strengthen existing ties and seek out new opportunities in the market
  • Drive new business and renewal conversion through strong negotiation and technical insight
  • Ensure files and systems (Acturis, SchemeServe, Broker Partners) are maintained to the highest standard
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting, admin, and finance teams to resolve queries and maintain smooth processes
  • Provide feedback, share expertise, and support the wider team to continually raise our underwriting standards
  • Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, internal policies, and professional standards at all times
  • Contribute to the achievement of KPIs and performance targets set by the Underwriting Manager

What We’re Looking For:

  • A confident underwriter with proven experience in Property & Casualty underwriting
  • Strong broker relationships and a proactive approach to developing new ones
  • A trader’s mindset - commercially aware, agile, and results-driven
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to operational excellence
  • Experience using Acturis and SchemeServe (or similar platforms)
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment
  • Knowledge of FCA regulations, COCON, and Treating Customers Fairly principles
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development - Cert CII or working towards

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a tight-knit team in a business where your impact is visible
  • Work in a fast-paced, broker-facing MGA environment with A-rated capacity
  • Enjoy autonomy, ownership, and the chance to really shape your book
  • Backed by a team who value collaboration, growth, and long-term relationships
  • 25-30 days holiday (depending on experience)
  • Competitive salary + bonus
  • Hybrid working
