With sustainability at its core and backed by strong growth, they’ve created a new opportunity for a Commercial Project Lead to join their Bristol office. It’s a great chance to join a tight-knit, values-led team that believes in ownership, efficiency, and doing the job right.
What will you do?
- This is a hands-on commercial delivery role, responsible for owning project profitability from day one.
- You’ll lead all things margin-related across multiple retrofit projects, working closely with the Head of Commercial and Project Buyers.
- Build project budgets and manage cash flow from start to finish.
- Track gross margin, valuations, variations, and spend.
- Submit accurate monthly reports and forecasts to clients and directors.
- Ensure project payments and variations are actioned properly.
- Liaise with suppliers to reduce costs and avoid margin slippage.
- Find ways to improve project performance and drive profitability.
You’ll have autonomy and backing - the team wants someone with ideas who can take ownership, be proactive, and make projects run better.
What skills will you need?
- 2–3 years minimum experience in a commercial role, ideally with some experience managing a small team or leading from the front.
- Sector experience (retrofit, housing, construction) is nice to have - but not essential. Our client has hired successfully from outside the industry where candidates bring strong transferable commercial skills and leadership qualities.
- Solid understanding of margins, valuations, forecasting, and project cash flow.
- Clear communicator, confident engaging with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Commercially minded and proactive — someone who spots problems early and solves them.
