Our client is a contractor providing safe, high quality surfacing, civil engineering and infrastructure projects to local authorities and tier contractors throughout the UK on a range of frameworks and projects. Given the company's growth trajectory, they are looking to recruit in a number of positions including their Operations team where they require a Site Agent from a surfacing/highways background to cover North West, North East and into Scotland. This is a site-based role, however some time will be required in the Carlisle office.

Responsibilities

  • The Site Agent will be responsible for the management of the construction site, to achieve required project delivery to the customers’ objectives, while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control.
  • They will deliver multiple projects to the specified quality, required programme & maximum commercial performance.
  • The Site Agent will work closely with the Commercial Department, Contracts Manager & Engineers, to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner, whilst customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded.
  • Plan projects & ensure they are programmed to a level of detail necessary to deliver the scheme without delays.
  • Attend tender handover meetings.
  • Ensure that all site staff (including subcontractors) adhere to relevant health, safety & quality standards.
  • Implement the risk management process and check risk controls.
  • Ensure review of progress, forward planning & lookahead programmes are in place.
  • Attend internal & external meetings to ensure the production of accurate records of any discussions & actions.
  • Set the highest possible standards of leadership in the promotion of HS&E procedures and best practice.
  • Ensuring compliance with Company procedures & legal obligations.
  • Allocate HS&E responsibilities and duties for site personnel, check understanding & provide training as necessary.
  • Oversee & ensure that HSE-related documents are kept up to date and undertake site inspections.
  • Build & maintain relationships with both the Client/Customers.
  • Ensure that works are carried out in a manner which minimises community impact.
  • Deliver the work safely and without environmental incidents.
  • Deliver the work to the specified quality without defects.
  • Deliver end product to customer satisfaction cost control.
  • Ensure production and implementation of Project Plans, management plans, in line with Company procedures.
  • Produce procurement schedules and liaise with the procurement department to ensure sites have adequate resources to complete the tasks.

Knowledge / Education / Skills

  • An understanding of the construction industry & contractual documentation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to use your initiative.
  • Extensive experience of managing projects within a resurfacing/civils environment.
  • Working knowledge of contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme & risk management.
  • CSCS Card to required level.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
