Our client are a leading contractor within civil engineering, highways and infrastructure projects. We are looking to recruit a Senior Planner to join their busy operations team. This role requires site-based experience as an engineer, site manager or similar. It involves planning the most efficient methods of project delivery while finding solutions to engineering problems. You must also provide support to the pre-contract tender team, assist with bid-writing and summarise their construction thoughts on scheme-specific programmes.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review all tender documentation and consider options on how the scheme can best be delivered within the constraints.
- Ensure that while planning each tender, all possible alternative methods and strategies have been considered and discussed with the tender team.
- Jointly review sub-contracted work with respect to buildability and tender compliance, seeking advice from the Technical Manager when necessary.
- Assist with providing supporting documents for each tender submission as required.
- Ensure that any programmes and supporting documents produced comply with all schemes’ specific constraints.
- Provide advice and assistance on planning, methods of construction, solutions to engineering problems and programme creation.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, innovations, and legislation.
Requirements / Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have a wide experience of working on civil engineering sites.
- Minimum of an HNC civil engineering qualification.
- Be comfortable working in a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Preferably conversant with programming software, such as Asta or Microsoft Project, though not essential as site experience and training can be provided.
