Build the power infrastructure of the future

Enable Infrastructure is an experienced UK infrastructure contractor delivering specialist projects across the power, energy, rail and civil engineering sectors.

Working as both a principal contractor and subcontractor, the business provides integrated support from initial planning and design through to construction, commissioning and completion.

Its purpose is to create infrastructure solutions with lasting community value.

Our Power Systems team delivers LV and HV engineering solutions across utility, transport and public-sector environments.

This includes HV/LV distribution schemes, substations, DNO connections, rail power systems, EV charging infrastructure and work involving assets up to 132k V.

We are now looking for

Electrical Engineer to support the safe, compliant and commercially effective delivery of electrical infrastructure projects throughout the full project lifecycle.

The opportunity

This is a varied engineering role offering exposure to projects from early feasibility and tender development through design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and final handover.

You will provide technical input across HV and LV power systems, working closely with engineering, project delivery, commercial, procurement and supply-chain teams.

You will help turn client requirements and site information into practical, buildable engineering solutions while maintaining accurate and auditable technical records.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Developing and reviewing electrical specifications, drawings, schedules, calculations and technical reports.
  • Supporting the engineering of HV/LV distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, cables, earthing, protection, metering and associated control interfaces.
  • Preparing and coordinating single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, cable schedules, load assessments and equipment‑selection information.
  • Supporting cable‑sizing, voltage‑drop, fault‑level, protection‑coordination and earthing studies.
  • Translating client requirements and survey information into clear engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinating electrical interfaces with civil, structural, mechanical, control and communications disciplines.
  • Supporting tenders, site surveys, feasibility assessments, engineering estimates and technical scopes.
  • Preparing procurement information and assessing supplier submissions against agreed specifications.
  • Monitoring engineering deliverables and identifying technical risks, design changes and long‑lead items.
  • Providing practical technical support to project managers, site teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Contributing to risk assessments, method statements, inspection and test plans, quality records and design‑risk reviews.
  • Supporting factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning activities and readiness for energisation.
  • Compiling and reviewing as‑built drawings, equipment records, operation and maintenance information, and handover documentation.
  • Capturing lessons learned and helping improve engineering standards, templates and delivery processes.
  • What we’re looking for

Essential experience and capabilities

  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering, or equivalent demonstrable technical experience.
  • Relevant experience within electrical power distribution or infrastructure engineering.
  • A practical understanding of HV/LV equipment and the interfaces involved in project delivery.
  • The ability to interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications, schedules and engineering calculations.
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety principles, design‑risk management and relevant UK requirements.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing technical documentation and progressing engineering queries through to resolution.
  • The ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and site personnel.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and written communication skills.
  • Good attention to accuracy, document control and engineering‑record management.
  • Commercial awareness, including an understanding of how engineering decisions affect cost, programme, scope and quality.
  • The flexibility to attend project sites and travel as required.

Desirable experience

We would be particularly interested in candidates who can offer experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Grid connections, renewable energy or battery energy storage systems.
  • Utilities, industrial power systems or rail electrical infrastructure.
  • Distribution Network Operators, Independent Connection Providers or client asset‑engineering teams.
  • NERS‑accredited delivery environments and engineering‑assurance processes.
  • Protection coordination, earthing or wider power‑system studies.
  • Control systems or SCADA interfaces.
  • Electrical design, calculation, drawing or power‑system analysis software.
  • Factory acceptance testing, site testing, commissioning and project handover.
  • Professional registration, or active development towards an appropriate engineering registration.

Why join Enable Infrastructure?

You will become part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary infrastructure business delivering projects across power, energy, rail and civil engineering.

The role offers the opportunity to

  • Contribute across the complete engineering and project‑delivery lifecycle.
  • Work on technically varied HV and LV infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers, project teams, network operators, suppliers and clients.
  • Help develop safe, buildable and maintainable engineering solutions.
  • Support projects that contribute to resilient infrastructure, electrification and the transition towards lower‑carbon energy.
  • Join a business that places collaboration, safety and wellbeing, continuous improvement, productivity and proactive ownership at the heart of how it works.

Interested?

If you are an Electrical Engineer who combines strong technical capability with practical project‑delivery awareness, we would like to hear from you.
