This role is to assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager in project delivery and site engineering/setting out, ensuring safe delivery of the project to time, cost and quality requirements. The main project is an energy project upgrading and building substations through Scotland. This role requires experience of using robotic total station, generally line and level control. The ability and willingness to travel around the Country is required, project locations around Dundee, but throughout Scotland.

Key tasks:
  • Technical Assurance of Construction Works
  • Verify that works are constructed in accordance with approved designs, risk assessments (RAMS), and inspection/test regimes.
  • Provide daily engineering assurance on site.
  • Identify deviations from design or method and escalate.
  • Inspection, Verification and Records
  • Undertake or support setting out and dimensional checks, inspection of safety-critical works, verification of construction activities (e.g. pours, groundworks, installation).
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and evidence.
  • Support “hold, witness and inspection points” within the Engineering Management Plan.
  • Temporary Works Implementation (TWS-type functions where delegated)
  • Where acting as or supporting a TWS: Supervise installation of temporary works, inspection prior to loading/use, removal and dismantling.
  • Ensure works are only implemented in accordance with approved designs and permits.
  • No authority for design approval or change.
  • Monitoring Compliance and Escalation
  • Identify non-conformances, deviation from design or RAMS, unsafe or uncontrolled works.
  • Escalate issues to TWC / Construction Manager / DI as appropriate.
  • Prevent progression of non-compliant work activities.
  • Engineering Input into Planning and Sequencing
  • Support constructability reviews, sequencing of works, interface coordination (temporary/permanent works).
  • Assist in defining safe build methodology and logical construction stages.
  • Evidence, Records and “Golden Thread”
  • Produce and maintain inspection records, verification data, and as-built information.
  • Contribute to the project evidence base required under Building Safety Act 2022 and Engineering Management Plan requirements.
  • Support to Dutyholder Framework (CDM 2015)
  • Act as a key enabler of dutyholder compliance by monitoring construction works, providing real-time assurance, and supporting risk control implementation.
  • Ensure work is planned, managed, and monitored safely on site.
Qualifications & Experience required:
  • Civil Engineering degree.
  • Energy/substation construction experience.
  • Experience as a Site Engineer.
  • Experience using surveying equipment such as Leica or total station.
  • Organising and managing ITP's, safety files and site paperwork.
