We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join an established groundworks and reinforced concrete frame subcontractor delivering technically complex projects across the Southwest of England, with a strong and growing presence in Bridgwater and Bristol. The role will support a diverse portfolio of work spanning EV and hydrogen infrastructure, retail and petroleum schemes, commercial developments, and heritage projects, including museums. A key current project is a large-scale EV battery storage facility in Bridgwater, where the business is delivering specialist groundworks and RC packages on a live site.

This role will suit a Quantity Surveyor from a groundworks subcontractor background who enjoys working closely with site teams and wants to be part of a business growing outside of its traditional core market.

Role Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of groundworks and reinforced concrete packages from site mobilisation through to final account. This is a subcontractor side role, working under a mix of NEC and JCT contracts, with a strong emphasis on cost control, commercial reporting and close collaboration with delivery teams. The position is predominantly site-based in Bridgwater, with support from the Bristol office and flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week, depending on project requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Commercial management of groundworks and RC packages
  • Cost forecasting, valuations and cash flow management
  • Preparation and submission of applications for payment
  • Managing variations, change control and final accounts
  • Working under NEC and JCT forms of contract
  • Procurement and management of supply chain subcontractors
  • Supporting site teams with commercial reporting and risk management

About You

This role is ideally suited to a Quantity Surveyor from a groundworks subcontractor background who is comfortable working on live construction sites. You will ideally have:

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks and/or reinforced concrete
  • Strong understanding of subcontractor commercial processes
  • Working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
  • Confidence managing packages independently on live projects

What’s on Offer

  • Salary between £60,000 and £80,000, depending on experience
  • Digs provided for site based work in Bridgwater if required
  • Site based role with up to 2 days per week remote working
  • Long-term pipeline of work across multiple sectors
  • Opportunity to grow with a business expanding in the Southwest
